Novaquark, the French developer working on Duel Universe, has opened a new studio in Montreal. Alongside the announcement of this new studio, they also revealed that they've hired former head of Eidos Montreal Stéphane D'Astous as a General Manager. In a press release released by the developer, they state that the goal of the new studio is to "ramp up development on the gameplay of the ambitious civilization building MMO, Dual Universe."

Stéphane D'Astous said the following on the topic of his new position at Novaquark: "It's a true honor to join the Novaquark team and open a world-class studio in Montréal. Working with a visionary genius like Jean-Christophe is a rare opportunity that I could not refuse. The game on which we will be working on, Dual Universe, is an immensely ambitious game that will change the way we experience and play video games. No other gaming studio in Montreal is working on this type of game, it's a great addition to our city."

D'Astous resigned from Eidos Montreal in 2014 after helping found the company, so he has a lot of experience in the industry, with this marking his first return since 2014. The Sandbox MMO Dual Universe is set to release some time in 2020, so he's going to have his hands busy on the job right now.
