Nintendo has published an Iwata Asks special with Grezzo, the developer behind the Ocarina of Time remake on the 3DS.

The informal discussion, appearing on the company's website, covered all aspects of transforming the 13 year-old title to its updated 3D self, including how the updated character design played havoc with established puzzle solving.

"When I looked into why the tip of the torch wouldn't light the fire," programmer Shun Moriya explained, "I realized that Link's arms and legs were longer and his waist higher, since we had designed him a little more to today's styles. This had caused the angle between his sword and the ground to change, so the tip of the torch wouldn't light the fire."

Talking about the Water Temple, Eiji Aonuma stated it was a chance to fix a problem that Iwata described as like having "a bone stuck in your throat for thirteen years".

"Yeah," Aonuma agreed. "The worst thing was thinking about how many people may have given up there. So this time, if we used the Nintendo 3DS system's two screens, I thought, "Link can put on and take off his Iron Boots in a flash!" So we were like, "Let's do it!""
