We recently caught up with Mateusz Osuch, a programmer on Oh...Sir! The Insult Simulator and had a chance to talk a bit about the inspirations for the game as well when it will be releasing.
Similar to the original Monkey Island's sword fighting opponent's string sentences together throwing insults each other's way unto the one is the victor of the duel.
"You have to create a sentence that will destroy your opponent, so you have piece of sentences, like some words that you have to connect to make the most powerful insult possible, that's the goal of the game."
The new version of Oh...Sir will add more characters, each with their own insults and weak points. It will add more tactics to insulting your adversaries, featuring more combos and strategies.
"We wanted to add to the original version some more mechanics to have these kinds of dilemmas, like what kind of tactics should I use now, you can do a really long sentence but you risk that somebody will take the older words and you won't have the possibility to finish the sentence and then you will get zero points, so you have to think all the time what to do if you want to win."
The game was originally released on Steam for free after being created in a Games Jam, but due to its popularity Vile Monarch has decided to do a full version. Originally the game was influenced by the Monty Python dead parrot bit, but the updated version will expand on this.
The feedback was I'd like to play with somebody, I'd like to have online multiplayer," said programmer Mateusz Osuch. "So that's why we made it. Now the game will be published on Steam, Goggle Play and App Store, there will be a story mode to unlock all the characters, as I said there will be multiplayer, the multiplayer will also be cross platform, so you can play on my tablet, you can play on your PC. This is not a big game, but it's quite amusing."
Oh...Sir! will release at the end of September or the beginning of October. If you're curious about the old free version follow this link.
