This week Pokémon fans not only got to learn about the 18 types of Gyms they will get to visit in the upcoming Nintendo Switch blockbuster Pokémon Sword/Shield, but we've also learned that no fewer than 1,000 people are involved in development.

The source is the same Game Informer interview with Game Freak general manager Shigeru Ohmori, but as shared by Centro Pokémon, we hear that "the studio grew in size, nearly doubling the core team since the development of Sun and Moon".

Now, other than main designers and developers (around 200 members), the figure includes external contributors, marketing teams, and localisation partners, but "Ohmori estimates that around 1,000 names will appear in the credits", which at any rate makes for one of the biggest projects to release this year (and probably the biggest development for a Nintendo Switch game).

How do you think Sword and Shield are looking, with so many names behind it?
