With Overwatch 2 finally being revealed at BlizzCon last week, we caught up with Executive Producer Chacko Sonny and Lead Writer Michael Chu to ask them our burning questions, including how important it was for them to have players of the first game and the sequel play together.

"I think on the Overwatch team and at Blizzard we're all game players, like we love playing series, and any series of games, when there's a moment where we might be separated from other players as a result of the player base being split, it's always difficult for us," Sonny said.

"So just as fans of games, we wanted to make sure that we were honouring the contributions of our community. We know how much effort people put in, and time, and attention to our games, and we want to make sure that all those - I think it's 50 million people now - that are playing this game, can come and play in a shared multiplayer environment, so current Overwatch players playing side by side with Overwatch 2 players in the core game modes and in Push."

The same game modes and maps will be included with this, and for more on Overwatch 2 you can check out our BlizzCon impressions here.

Are you pleased that they've bridged the gap this way?
