Through a post shared on its official forum, Grinding Gear Games has announced that Path of Exile for PlayStation 4 has been delayed until February 2019, and therefore the game won't arrive on Sony's console on December 7 as originally planned.

In the post, the development team apologised to potential players, writing: "We underestimated the amount of work it would take to finish the certification process during the busy Christmas period. While we hope to have everything ready in January, we feel a lot more comfortable promising early February as a target release window".

The extra time will allow the studio to improve certain aspects of the game, starting with stability, framerate and other technical aspects. Path of Exile was originally released on PC in 2013 and Xbox One last year, and has proved popular on both platforms. Alas, PS4 players will have a little while longer before they'll be able to try it for themselves.
