Pokémon as a franchise is very popular and everyone knew that Sun and Moon would sell well. Sales figures for the latest Pokémon games have been released by Nintendo and, as you'd expect, they're pretty impressive.

Pokémon Sun and Moon not only sold a combined 3.7 million units in less than two weeks, they're also the "fastest-selling games that Nintendo has ever launched in the Americas," said Nintendo.

Sun and Moon also had strong sales in both Japan and Europe, and if you put the sales figures of North America, Europe, and Japan, altogether it makes for an eye-watering amount of units - around the 7.2 million mark. Expect this number to go up as Christmas draws ever closer.

Altogether Pokémon related software has sold more than 280 million units worldwide since the first Pokémon games, Red and Blue, which were released in 1996 in Japan (1999 for Europe).

Pokémon Sun and Moon are available now for Nintendo 3DS. Have you played the latest Pokémon games or are you waiting till Christmas? Let us know in the comments.

REVIEW. Written by Juan A. Fonseca

"Be it the story, visual style, setting, creatures, combat, or even the fan service, this game delves deeper into the RPG genre and it's better for the shift."
