Yesterday the news broke regarding the imminent expiry of the exclusive licensing deal between EA and Porsche that so far has limited the presence of the German manufacturer's vehicles outside of the Need for Speed series (besides the occasional appearance in racers such as Forza or the special collaboration with Assetto Corsa). Gamereactor contacted Porsche for its official position on the matter, and here's the statement in full:

We have enjoyed a long and successful exclusive partnership with EA, EA has two very strong brands with the Need for Speed and the Real Racing franchises, and Porsche cars had many memorable appearances in various games from those franchises over the years. However, the games industry has grown tremendously over the past years, and games as a form of entertainment reach an ever expanding target group. We mutually agreed with EA in good spirit to end our exclusive agreement this year, while continuing a premium partnership going forward for EA racing games.

Even though Porsche's response doesn't specifically mention the presence of the brand in other games, the new arrangement opens the (garage) door to titles beyond Forza Motorsport 6, the expected pack for Forza Horizon 3, or the carefully crafted content packs releasing for Assetto Corsa, and among potential new suitors Slightly Mad (Project CARS) and Polyphony (Gran Turismo Sport) will surely be contemplating their next moves.
