Square Enix has released a short teaser which appears to show off new game set to be announced during their E3 conference. The title is called Outriders and is expected to be a new sci-fi experience, as indicated by the tease.

Currently all we know about the game is situated in deep cryptic messages, which have been posted on the Twitter page of the game itself. What we can infer is that the title is to be set either on a spaceship - which has transported a portion of the human population away from Earth after a disaster - or will be set on a distant planet called Enoch, which we have little to no information about.

The short teaser is just as vague, offering little insight into what the title may be. During the brief video we see a person waking up from cryosleep, we assume after the long voyage from Earth. This may be the Captain Archan who is loosely referenced in the bizarre tweets, but there's no way of being certain.

For the Marvel fans out there, waiting in anticipation for Square Enix's Avengers title, the name Outriders may seem familiar, as it does have ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The creatures have served Thanos in the past, after all.

This is a loose link, meaning it's more than likely that Outriders and the Avengers title are completely separate projects. Whatever the case, be sure to tune in to Square Enix's E3 conference on June 10 at 16:00 PST (02:00 BST and 03:00 CEST the next morning) to get a better look at this unusual game.

What do you think about Outriders potentially being a new IP?
