Sony Interactive Entertainment's president, Andrew House, has said in an interview with The Guardian that he was surprised that Microsoft announced their latest console, Project Scorpio, at their E3 conference.

His surprise is not because of its existence, however, but because it was announced over a year before it was set to be released.

"I was surprised by the step of announcing something over a year ahead of time," House told the newspaper. Sony themselves announced the PS4 back in 2013, but without showing it, which caused something of an uproar at the time.

"When, in 2013, very much in line with our previous strategies, we announced a concept and a name for PlayStation 4, and everyone said 'where's the box? How dare you?!'"

The PlayStation Neo has been confirmed as existing by Sony, but not much else has been said beyond it's initial confirmation. If the interview with House is anything to go by it seems likely that Sony will announce the console and release it soon after.
