Tencent has reveled that PUBG Mobile has been downloaded a staggering 1 billion times. To put the enormity of this achievement into perspective, the world's population is currently believed to be 7.6 billion, so this figure accounts for roughly 1/7.
The mobile counterpart to the popular battle royale game launched three years ago in March 2018, and it is still supported to date with regular content updates. A new Karakin map is planned to arrive on April 7 and Tecent has told its fans on Twitter to "stay tuned for an awesome new update."
In other news, Tencent also previously announced that a successor to PUBG Mobile known as PUBG: New State is set to launch in 2021. The game is being developed by PUBG Studio (known for the PC and console versions of PUBG) and is set in the year of 2051. Pre-registration for the game is now open on Google Play.
