Rare Replay was recently launched to much acclaim, offering no less than 30+ games to enjoy from the studio's 30 year history. And this is an important move, according to Rare studio head Craig Duncan who thinks gamers tend to forget the past to easily. In an interview with Games Master he says:
"As gamers we do lose the past too easily, and games of previous generations become harder to experience and enjoy. It's so simple for me to go and listen to a music track from the '70s or '80s, or find a classic film that pushed a genre forward.
"There are so many pioneering games that still play well today; the production standards and limitations of technology at the time come second to that core gameplay. It's fascinating to see - showing my kids (who are 12 and 13) what was around in the '80s and '90s that I grew up with was lots of fun, and they've really enjoyed games in Rare Replay that were created before they were even born!"
