Releasing This Week: July 9-15

Octopath Traveler, Earthfall, Defiance 2050, and Captain Toad headline this week in gaming.

It's not the biggest week for gaming releases, but there's definitely one or two gems coming out this week that you'll want to keep your eyes on...

July 9 - Today sees the release of classic platform-adventure Another World on the Nintendo Switch courtesy of Dotemu.

July 10 - Roguelike action platformer 20XX arrives on PS4, Switch, and Xbox One after having launched on Steam in August last year. The reworked MMO shooter Defiance 2050 launches on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The frantic party game Headsnatchers arrives via Steam Early Access on PC. The delightfully playful couch multiplayer title Muddledash arrives on PC and Nintendo Switch. 2D build and survive game Dig or Die launches fully on PC after more than 3 years in Early Access. Sega's Shining Resonance Refrain arrives for Western audiences on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. The Lion's Song arrives on Nintendo Switch. The Spectrum Retreat (read our glowing review) arrives on PC, PS4, and Xbox One to the delight of first-person puzzle adventure fans.

July 11 - Roguelike shoot 'em up Blacksea Odyssey arrives on PS4 a couple of years after its debut on PC. Bomber Crew, the game that puts you in charge of managing the crew of a bomber (funny, eh?) arrives on PS4, Switch, and Xbox One after launching on PC in October last year, PC players also get some new features via an update. Mindball Play, the game where you're racing through tracks with a ball is exiting Early Access and launching fully on Steam. Fatshark's Warhammer: Vermintide 2 arrives on Xbox One after a successful spell on PC, note that it's also a day one addition to Xbox Game Pass.

July 12 - The robot duel card battler that is Insane Robots arrives on PC, PS4, and Xbox One starting this day. Islands of Nyne launches via Steam Early Access (PC) as does Icons: Combat Arena. The fast and visually striking acrobatic platformer Rifter launches on PC. Multiplayer survival adventure Seeking Dawn arrives for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

July 13 - Friday is without a doubt the biggest day for releases (in Europe, at least), and there's plenty to be excited about. All-Star Fruit Racing gets its full release on PC and adds PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions as well on this day. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker makes the trip over from Wii U and onto both Nintendo 3DS and Switch. Danger Zone 2 adds more Burnout Crash-like antics to our lives on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Left 4 Dead-like co-op shooter Earthfall exits early access on Steam and launches fully on Steam as well as PS4 and Xbox One. Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard arrives on PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One to haunt us all. Finally, the Square Enix developed Octopath Traveler hits Nintendo Switch more than a year after we first sampled the demo.
