The demise or "majority studio closure" of Telltale Games has left the second half of the final season of The Walking Dead in limbo. The first two episodes of The Walking Dead are out, but behind the scenes, the company has been negotiating with other companies to hire former Telltale staff and finish the final two episodes, according to Kotaku's sources. The season had a fixed release schedule, and as episodes were meant to drop in November and December, they were already very far along. The third episode apparently only needed a couple of weeks of polish and was ready to be rated ahead of its intended release on November 6. The fourth and final episode, also very far along in its development, was meant to see release on December 18.
Clearly, time is a factor here as the team members working at Telltale were fired without notice and severance and with every day that goes by they will be more likely to have found new jobs, which would make finishing the game harder for any company looking to salvage the end of Clementine's journey.
Hopefully, some sort of deal can be reached as it would be a shame for the season and series not to get a proper ending. What are your thoughts?
