Capcom showed the debut trailer for the Resident Evil 2 remake at Sony's E3 Press conference earlier this morning. The key word here is "remake", this is clearly not a remaster, it looks like the game has been rebuilt from the ground up. Seriously, it looks gorgeous, and it seems like our return to Raccoon City is going to be very interesting indeed.
"Using Capcom's proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-poundingly immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game," reads the official presser we got shortly after the reveal.
It's safe to assume that the story will follow Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield once again, although how they'll split up their campaigns this time around is unknown at the time of writing. All that is known is the classic survival horror is returning soon, and players will be able to "experience a completely new take on one of the most iconic moments in the Resident Evil franchise."
How soon? Well, it turns out that Resident Evil 2 is scheduled to release on January 25, 2019.
