Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will in fact have microtransactions, however not as outrageous in nature as originally rumoured.

Reports suggested that players would have the ability to pay to keep playing after dying, and this remains the case, but the feature will be exclusive to the game's new Raid mode.

In Raid mode, the players can use "life crystals" to respawn after death. Two types of crystals are available to the players, one being blue, and is obtainable through daily missions, the other one red, which can be purchased through microtransactions.

Capcom explains: "The two crystals act the same, but there's an option to buy if players run out of blue (earned) crystals or don't want to spend the time earning them. If players have both blue and red crystals, the game will prioritise the blue crystals over the red ones."

The game's main campaign will not feature any microtransactions, which should be a relief to fans of the series.
