The free-to-play racer, Ridge Racer Driftopia, has seemingly failed to gain enough traction during its almost year-long beta phase, as Bandai Namco is now planning on closing its servers by August 15.
"All the feedback will be taken into account for upcoming projects", the publisher said.
Developed by Finnish studio Bugbear Entertainment, Ridge Racer Driftopia has been in beta for PC and PS3 since August 2013. The game is by and large based on Bugbear's previous Burnout-esque take on the series, Ridge Racer Unbounded, but with a free-to-play economy added on top.
Bugbear is now making a return to its own roots with Next Car Game, which is a pure destruction derby title.
Bandai Namco on the other hand has been on a free-to-play spree of sorts, spawning online titles of many of its biggest IPs, including Ace Combat Infinity and Soul Calibur: Lost Swords, and an all-new title called Rise of Incarnates.
