In a few weeks, Riot was planning to host the 2021 LCS Championship, an event that would've seen fans be able to attend and watch the competition unfold at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. However, that event has since been cancelled by Riot amid growing Covid-19 numbers across the United States, leading the event to be held behind closed doors at the LCS Arena in Los Angeles instead.

The decision comes in a blog post where it is revealed that Riot expects other events to continue, but that it "does not need to take health and safety risks in order to produce its core competitive product."

This decision also comes keeping in mind Worlds 2021, which will follow the event, and will require players to be healthy to be able to travel and compete in China for the massive international tournament.

Riot has also mentioned that it intends to return to the Prudential Center next year for another LCS event, and has stated that every person who bought a ticket would be completely refunded for the ticket price.
