Riot has announced a new expansion of the League of Legends Championship Series, with a Game Changers event coming this September. The tournament aims to promote inclusivity and diversity in the LCS, by supporting women with high ELO who aim to go pro.

This Game Changers event will also help female players transition into amateur and professional leagues that are dominated by male players, and will also serve as a scouting ground to open more paths into the esports scene. It will see ten highly-skilled players selected to join one of two teams, where they will get to experience a two-week period of being an esports professional.

The event for this year will be fully-remote and will see players learn the fundamentals of professional play, and also practice and scrim against each other. At the end of the program, the teams will compete in a best-of-five series, to really round out the event.

The event itself will not be broadcast, but the applications to be one of the ten attending players is now open. You can find out more about that here.
