Mad Catz not only produce plastic instruments and various other gaming peripherals, they're also the publisher and distributor for Rock Band 4.

The move to release the revamped music title hasn't done the business as hoped, with the company posting a huge loss of $11.6 million for their past financial year, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz.

In the last quarter of the fiscal year, Mad Catz made a loss of $6.8 million alone. The year before Mad Catz recorded a $4.7 million profit. The huge loss is being blamed on the failure of Rock Band 4. Naturally Mad Catz had expected better sales and had borrowed and invested millions in the venture - and it was a gamble that didn't pay off.

Rock Band developer Harmonix has meanwhile signed a deal with a new hardware partner which stipulates that Mad Catz is only allowed to sell their own remaining hardware for Rock Band 4 until September 6, 2016. After that date they lose their license to do so. It's not looking good either, as the paperwork reveals that they still have $8.3 million worth of Rock Band 4 inventory to sell. Something that will very likely not be happening, at least not within that timescale. Maybe they can strike a deal with Harmonix's new hardware partner...

REVIEW. Written by Philip Lauritz Poulsen

"It's enjoyable solo, however, the game is by far at its most entertaining with other people involved, so the lack of online multiplayer is baffling."
