Psyonix's super popular sports/car game Rocket League grew substantially yesterday when the highly anticipated Dropshot Mode was finally released. Matches inside this new mode take place in a hexagonal arena that's based on a grid of smaller hexagons, and there are no fixed goals or scoring areas. Players must instead break through the floor on the opponents half of the field, and this is done by kicking (knocking, bumping?) the ball down the field. This sounds weird, we know, but also looks a lot of fun.

Here's Psyonix's own description of the mode: "Dropshot is a brand new take on Rocket League gameplay as we introduce dynamic breakable floors and an electrified ball, all within the confines of a new hexagonal Arena, 'Core 707'. Instead of pushing the ball into your opponent's goal, your objective is to destroy panels on the opposing team's floor, and score goals through those gaps."

You can find out more about Dropshot on the game's website. Which has been the best game mode for Rocket League so far?

"Matches often descend into violent ramming attacks and opportunistic goal poaching. It doesn't matter though; it's all fun and games."
