Rollercoaster Tycoon meets Minecraft in Chunks for HTC Vive

The new VR builder from Facepunch Studios launches on Steam Early Access.

Facepunch Studios, as they like to call themselves "makers of Rust, Garry's Mod, and Baby Bird Drop", have just released an Early Access version of Chunks, their new Virtual Reality project, on Steam ($19.99, £14.99, 19,99€).

The game is a new block-based world builder, and has been designed from scratch for the wave of VR devices. In particular, this one's compatible with the new HTC Vive headset (it's actually required) and its motion controllers.

The new trailer tries to show how the game and its creative tools are played from the user's POV, and presents a graphical style and gameplay mechanics that of course resembles Minecraft, albeit with some added crazy rollercoaster building.

The press release explains how you can also "build cities and monuments while you're the size of a giant, then shrink yourself to walk inside what you built", or "tear the landscape apart with a bomb cannon", as shown in the gameplay clip above. Here's latest Chunks screens:
