In recent months, esports has grown to be the biggest it has ever been, with many organisations dipping their toes into the business which is getting more lucrative year on year. It should come as no surprise, then, that Facebook are reportedly going to make waves in the industry very soon.

According to a report from the The Information, who spoke to the developer of mobile esport Vainglory, Facebook are planning to begin streaming professional matches on the website, which could make it a direct competitor to Twitch, the most popular esports streaming service. The developer also said that nothing is set in stone as of yet, though.

Facebook launched a livestreaming service last year that has been consistently ironed out and improved, so there is every chance we'll be seeing a leap in the capabilities of the platform to put it in a position to stream esports in the near future. Is this something you'd like to see?
