When Blizzard hired senior software engineers for something that sounded like a remaster last November people hoped for different things. We've heard people beg for Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft. Now rumours indicate that we'll be getting the latter.
The well respected Korean news site iNews24 claims to have multiple sources telling them that Blizzard will announce a HD version of the original Starcraft this September. They don't want to share much more than that, but the new version will apparently retain its gameplay with improved resolution and user interface.
It seems that the initial reveal will include few details, and that Blizzard will share more during BlizzCon in November. This makes sense considering that the Starcraft II World Championship Series' Copa Intercontinental takes place in September. What better place to announce a new version of the original?
