As teased a few days ago, Ghost Recon: Wildlands will be getting content based on Splinter Cell, as today Ubisoft releases Special Operation I, the first major update of the second year of extra content, and the highlight is a Splinter Cell themed mission featuring the series' protagonist Sam Fisher.

The mission will be playable in the game's campaign, while PvP players can participate in the new Ghost War mode, incluing the new Echelon class. In the story mode, players can help Sam Fisher himself in a "high-risk infiltration mission", either by themselves or with up to three friends. Players can also access several new customisation items based on Splinter Cell.

As if that wasn't enough good news, Ghost Recon: Wildlands will be available for free between April 12 to April 15 across PC, PS4, and Xbox One, so if you have yet to take down the cartel now is as good a time as any to start.

Is Sam Fisher a welcome addition to the game?

REVIEW. Written by Matti Isotalo

"There are only a handful of big-budget open-world games with campaign co-op as good as this."
