Ubisoft has announced that the Rainbow Six Pro League will start its seventh season this week in four territories - Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and North America - and yesterday marked the start of it all with North America getting underway, including a match between Evil Geniuses and Ronin.

Asia-Pacific starts tomorrow in Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and South-East Asia, with Latin America starting on Wednesday, and European sides battling it out later in the week, including Six Invitational champions Penta Sports taking on Vitality.

Season 7 is described by the press release as a "transition season, the last one to follow the three month format and paving the way for the new Pro League format, announced back in January." From now on each year will have two six-month seasons, beginning with Season 8 in June this year, but for Season 7 we'll be getting a Season Final, where eight teams will meet in the US at the end of the season, with more details on the exact location to be revealed soon.

What's more is that we also have an official aftermovie for the Six Invitational, which we attended last month. Do you think the shift to a six-month format is a good choice?

"It's in competitive multiplayer where the game shines. The matches are short, intense and always surprising."
