The new trailer for Shenmue 3, which premiered during the PC Gaming Show at E3 2019, focused on martial arts training within the world of Shenmue. We got a look at how Ryo built up his combat expertise, and the types of no-good fools he'll unleash these moves upon.

We were also treated to a few dialogue sequences, which still look a little rough around the edges. Lip-syncing looks out of time and unclear, but the art style hides it well. Elsewhere, the visuals look strong with the night scene looking particularly impressive. All this stays true to the Shenmue style, which long-standing fans will no doubt be pleased about.

The conclusion of the trailer sees Ryo run into a not-so-friendly foe who is surprised to see our hero turn up unannounced. This setup looks to tease a boss fight of some sort when the teaser fades to black in typical Shenmue fashion.

Will you be playing Shenmue 3 when it launches on November 19, 2019?

REVIEW. Written by Mikael Sundberg

"Shenmue 3 certainly doesn't feel limited by its budget, rather it's lifted by the developer's will to keep to the ambition of its predecessors."
