Overwatch's latest hero is now available to play in the game's public testing realm, the PTR. Sombra is an offensive hacking-based hero who can disable the abilities of enemy players and make use of the world around her.
Sombra's kit includes a machine pistol capable of dealing impressive amounts of damage and various other tools. She can turn completely invisible to enemies, allowing her to sneak behind them to execute her meta-changing abilities which are designed to render enemies almost useless for lengthy intervals. On top of this, she can also disable health packs and turrets, giving your team a huge tactical advantage in certain areas of the map. Her ultimate, EMP, disables abilities en-masse in a wide radius, knocking out any shields or barriers in the process. This will be particularly deadly for heroes like Zenyatta, whose health is made up primarily of shields.
The PTR update didn't simply bring Sombra into the game. It also brought forth a new map, Ecopoint: Antarctica, which will be the stage for tense 3v3 matches in which you only have a single life. 3v3 matches are part of a new feature called The Arcade, which also includes 1v1's, alternating brawls, and modes with special rulesets.
This PTR cycle is a huge one, and whilst we've covered the bigger changes there are a number of smaller balance changes in what is right now a very iterative process, where nothing is absolutely final. To check out the full patch notes, head this way. Do you think Sombra is a good addition?
