Yesterday we reported on an issue on PSN where malicious messages were causing PS4 units to shut down or get "bricked" if you will. According to a tweet from Ask PlayStation UK on Twitter the issue has since been resolved, and if you were affected you could log on to the mobile app and delete the message from there.

"We've since fixed the issue, and it wasn't bricking consoles, just sending them into a crash loop that can be quickly fixed in under 5 minutes. Delete the message on the PS mobile app, go into Safe Mode, use Option 5, console back to normal."

Of course, it's an easy 5-minute fix if you know what to do, but unfortunately, some players took other measures and in some cases factory resets were necessary, wiping save game progress for games (hopefully your cloud saves are up to date). How Sony will deal with the guilty parties responsible for sending out these messages is still unknown, but we'd say permanent bans are in order.

Did you get hit by a message and were you affected by this?
