Back in September of last year, developer Three One Zero announced that their game, Adrift, which is set in a space station struck by disaster, would not be released until the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset had launched.

Shortly after that speculation started concerning what that actually meant. Would the game be released as soon as Oculus Rift is out, or would they wait until the headset had acquired a decent userbase?

As it turns out the first option was the correct one, as a tweet from the publisher has revealed March 28 as the official release date. That's the exact same date as the release of the finalised Oculus Rift headset.

A space walk like no other, where you are desperately searching for oxygen tanks inside and outside of a space station all but torn to pieces. Not a bad way to start the VR era, wouldn't you say?

In addition to the PC version, Adrift is also planned for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

REVIEW. Written by Bengt Lemne

"Overall, in spite of some enjoyable moments and some sights to marvel at, Adrift felt a bit too much like the wrecked space station itself."
