When people think of superhero games, the Arkham series of Batman titles come to the top of the list for many, but as shared by NPD analyst Mat Piscatella on Twitter, Arkham City has been dethroned as the best-selling superhero game of all time in the US, with Insomniac's Spider-Man swinging onto the top spot.

This data comes from The NPD Group directly, and it's all the more impressive considering Spider-Man has been out for less than a year, and only on PS4. Spidey is also on the top 10 list elsewhere, as Spider-Man: The Movie is at six, with the game of the second film also coming in at seven. Lego Marvel Super Heroes also represents the Marvel brand at five.

Elsewhere in the list though DC reigns supreme, as Arkham City and Knight sit at second and third respectively, with Lego Batman at four. Injustice: Gods Among Us, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Injustice 2 round off the list at eight, nine, and 10, so it's a solid battle between Spidey and the Dark Knight in the top 10.

Of course Insomniac has given fans more content after release with DLCs and extra suits too, keeping fans coming back to the superhero game, and we rather enjoyed the web-slinging title, as you can read in our review from last year.

Is this worthy of the top spot?

"The Heist is not a particularly impressive or memorable expansion, but it's fun and it comes with some interesting moments."
