Square-Enix have launched a beta version of a free-to-play portal called Core Online, where players will be able to enjoy games like Hitman: Blood Money and Mini Ninjas free of charge with ads (the idea is that you earn 20 minutes of game time by watching 1 minute of advertising). You can also unlock chapters of the game ($0.49) or buy the games outright ($4.99).
Next up on the service will be games like Tomb Raider: Underworld, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Gyromancer. Some games like Mini Ninjas and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light are playable through Google Chrome and therefore running on Mac as well as PC, but Hitman: Blood Money is PC only for the time being.
The service has been developed by Hapti.co, who are also working on the upcoming browser title Game Globe.
