During last night's Nintendo Direct we got a few new details regarding Star Fox ahead of the series' return to console.

For starters Nintendo reiterated the release date for upcoming Wii U title Star Fox Zero, which is set to launch on April 22, and confirmed that there'll be a limited edition First Print that includes the game along with Star Fox Guard (which we'll tell you about in a minute), both discs coming in a SteelBook case.

Here's what Nintendo had to say about Fox McCloud's next outing, and there's also a new trailer attached for your viewing pleasure:

"Multiple paths branch out to give players plenty of places to explore, and each route gives them a completely different experience and unique challenges. Players will notice their skills get better and better over time, as they become top-notch pilots. In two-player mode, one player can fly the Arwing while the other player aims and shoots."

Nintendo also unveiled Star Fox Guard, a digital title also launching on April 22. Here's how Nintendo described the title previously known only as Project Guard:

"Players set up 12 cameras to find and defeat enemies who are attacking the mining site of Slippy Toad's uncle, Grippy Toad. The game includes about 100 missions, but players can also create their own challenges by editing the placement of enemies and uploading them online."

REVIEW. Written by Fabrizia Malgieri

"While the game has definitely been saddled with frustrating controls, once again the action is spectacular and exciting."
