State of Decay 2 just got updated with Heartland, a new expansion for the zombie-filled open-world post-apocalyptic adventure, and we talked to Henry Goffin at Microsoft's Xbox Showcase about what players can expect.

"Heartland is a very narrative-driven experience where you start with a set of characters that we've authored, and you have a choice of telling one of two stories with the narrative. There is a scrappy ex-car mechanic and sort of a grizzled [ex-criminal underbelly kind of fellow]. So we have your cop story, and your more traditional family story."

"State of Decay 2: Heartland takes those characters on a journey through Trumbull Valley, which is the setting of the original State of Decay game. We had a lot of players say that they had unanswered questions about State of Decay. They wanted to know what happened in Trumbull Valley after the game was over, and now we've been able to bring players back to that map and revisit it, and see a lot of familiar faces."
