SteamWorld Heist was one of the best indie and handheld games of 2015, and thus many gamers in the galaxy will be happy to hear that not only the first DLC drop for the 3DS tactical combat title is ready, but also that it'll be available as soon as tomorrow, April 28th.

The content drop for the Nintendo 3DS game will cost £4.49 ($4.99/€4.99) and adds more in pretty much every aspect you need to keep playing, i.e. character, missions, weapons... and hats.

As shown in the trailer below, Fen is the latest member of the crew, is presented as a "Vectron outcast" and has some serious storming laser, apart from being able to "turn kills into own health". His inclusion also means, according to the official announcement, "new plot, missions, enemies, end boss, guns, utilities and dozens of new hats - of course!"

The Outsider launch comes along a significant free update to the base game. Previously announced Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Russian language pack will be at last available and, according to Image & Form CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson, "due to popular demand we've also expanded the inventory a bit - now you have more empty slots from the outset, and getting new slots will be less taxing on your water reserves. And there's more utilities. Oh, and even more weird hats." So yeah, now you can keep more weapons and items and not feeling bad for selling them at cheap price anymore.

We recently sat down with Sigurgeirsson to talk about the new DLC as well as other platforms that will get SteamWorld Heist soon (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, tablets). He shared some interesting tidbits about the process of delivering DLC on 3DS.

"It started out small, but as everything at Image & Form it seems that nobody puts down on paper what we're supposed to do so it sort of grew quite a bit," says Sigurgeirsson.

"Apparently it's very uncharted [DLC for digital 3DS titles] cause making DLC for 3DS is not trivial," explains Sigurgeirsson. "It's actually quite hard. Because in the DLC itself, that cannot contain any programming code, it's only assets. So you have to do everything in two steps. Heist when we released it didn't support DLC, so we are releasing an update that is free to everyone that contains five new languages... and it also contains the support for this DLC."
