Stranded Sails: Explorers of the Cursed Islands was at Gamescom this year, and as we passed by we talked with programmer Julian Schmidt about the adventure, which sees you stuck on a desert island in a cute game that we suggested might have been inspired by something like Stardew Valley.

"We would describe it sort of as a farming adventure," he said. "So the main aspect is not only the farming, as it might be in [Stardew Valley], but rather the adventure part, so the farming is kind of the way for you to reach further parts of the island so you can cook better food and travel further to reach all the islands and get all your crew back together."

In the interview below Schmidt talks in more detail about the threats we'll encounter, like pirate ghosts in old temples and other locations, but he also tells us that we'll have to keep our crew happy as well, which means "feed everyone, bring them the stuff they like, so maybe your main issues will be keeping you crew happy so everyone can help you".

Can you survive and keep your crew happy?
