Right off getting Best Action Game award at TGA we caught up with Machine Games' narrative designer Tommy Tordsson Bjork and senior game designer Andreas Öjerfors at Fun & Serious Game Festival in Bilbao, where Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus got the very same award the day after. In the interview below they both share their feelings about the award and talk about many aspects of the game, but we also wanted to know if it was going to follow the Doom path in terms of adaptations.

First off, a Nintendo Switch version has been confirmed by Bethesda for early 2018. "That's a collaboration with a different studio that we're working together with," recalls Öjerfors, before both confirm that the team in charge is Panic Button. "It's the same as the Doom studio," adds Bjork. "It's the same people," confirms the former.

The senior game designer later adds "they're experts at the Switch an now they're experts with the [id Tech 6] engine so we work with them, and the Doom version turned out to be really kick-ass on the Switch so I think Wolfenstein will be the same," with the narrative designer agreeing, saying: "it's going to be as good".

Panic Button has a good reputation in terms of squeezing the Switch's hardware when adapting projects that previously launched on other platforms, and the aforementioned Doom and Rocket League are recent examples.

Earlier in the interview we also talk about body awareness when playing in first person with J. Blazkowicz (something they had a dedicated team for; the "through the gun team"). We wondered if this could be used for a potential Wolfenstein 2 VR adaptation.

"We have no plans of turning the game into a VR experience," confirms Öjerfors. "But at some time we would love to do some VR experiments, absolutely, and we are very interested as a studio in creating that physical sense of being in the world, so it would be interesting to try that out in VR, We'll see".

Will Switch be your platform of choice for Wolfenstein?
