Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka we're on hand to talk us through the creative process they've employed over years of building Mario levels, with the pair offering us the benefit of their collective experience.
During the livestream they explained to us all how their ideas have defined the creation of Super Mario Maker. The creative game featured very prominently throughout Nintendo's E3 Direct, with Mario levels punctuating the livestream at various points.
We saw assets from a variety of Mario games mixed together, and players will even be able to replace the little red plumber with other characters in their own creations.
We also caught a glimpse of an 8-bit Amiibo, which is chunky and looks great, and it'll increase your character size in the game. There'll also be a booklet filled with plenty of Mario-related information for dedicated fans.
Finally we got a date, Super Mario Maker is set to launch onto Wii U on September 11, 2015 (at least in North America).
