THQ Nordic has been teasing a new game announcement for a few days now, but they didn't manage to keep it secret as long as they wanted, as the game's Steam page went up a few hours early, so we weren't exactly shocked when the official trailer was unveiled during The Game Awards. Still, it sounds fairly interesting.

Fade to Silence is a survival game where we don't just have to survive encounters with supernatural creatures called Eldritch, but also the extreme cold that surrounds us in the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Resources will be hard to come by, so we'll have to explore the 8km² area by foot or sled if we want to survive. That won't be easy when the dynamic weather system, which includes blizzards, will take its toll on us physically and mentally. The developers at Black Forest Games specifically mention that they're proud of this dynamic weather and the realistic snow, as the combination of these two enhances the experience. Reading weather patterns and footprints in the snow will be essential skills that we must master.

Fortunately, there are other survivors out there. Attracting new followers won't just make it easier to find resources, but each of them will also have their own skillset and traits that gives us access to higher tier resources and better gear. This is extremely important, as the Eldritch will keep getting stronger and the resources keep dwindling.

Does this sound interesting? If you think so, then you'll be glad that you won't have to wait long to get your hands on it, as the game will come to early access on December 14.

REVIEW. Written by Andreas Blom

"It isn't a bad game, it just feels unfinished, and perhaps it should have kept its Early Access tags for a little while longer."
