It was announced just yesterday that Chinese giant Tencent (Arena of Valor, Riot and LoL, Supercell and Clash Royale - and the company that owns half of Epic Games who infamously fell out with Bluehole Studio over Epic's implementation of a battle royale mode in Fortnite) had struck a deal to publish and "localise" the highly successful online multiplayer action game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in its country of origin. However, the localisation process not only includes text translations into the new language: it'll also have an impact on the game's content.

PUBG in China will therefore be "different" and "catering to the preference of Chinese gamers", according to its South Korean creator, PUBG Corp. As translated by Reuters (and grabbed by Polygon), the game will in fact be modified to take "socialist core values, Chinese traditional culture and moral rules" into consideration.

It's unclear what this will mean exactly, or if it could imply government propaganda, as suggested by Reuters. It'll also be interesting to see how all of this changes the competitive aspect of the game.

How do you think the Chinese PUBG will look? Leave a comment below.
