The Artful Escape of Francis Vendetti hits Kickstarter

The Kickstarter for The Artful Escape of Francis Vendetti by the Australian studio Beethoven and Dinosaur began today. The game is offically being called a 'narrative-driven action/adventure, music-sampling, platforming, rhythm laser-light guitar solo kind of game'. This sounds like someone threw a lot of magnetic words at a fridge and used what stuck, however it's strikingly accurate. It primarily takes place in an extra-dimensional plane where the player samples the sounds of various monsters to open up new areas and discover more about the person Francis Vendetti will come to be.

You play Francis Vendetti, a teenage musician and the nephew of a dead folk legend. On the eve of his first concert, Francis feels the weight of monumental expectation. His hometown yearns for another discography of folk masterpieces...but Francis is a horse of a different colour. He's a boy who sees fantasy in everything and imagines, with stunning ambition, a world just beyond the veil of the everyday. Francis must decide if he's going to give the people of Calypso what they want... or something they could never have imagined. That's when he meets Violetta, the best laser artist in the galaxy. She takes Francis on a multidimensional adventure to become an entirely different person.

Inspired by the worlds created by David Bowie and Andy Warhol rather than their music or art Beethoven and Dinosaur has created an amazing world filled with colour, light and scenes beyond imagination. The developers have stated that each conversation you have in the game will shape the backstory, image, charisma and even the name of Francis' new stage persona.
