So far we've seen a lot of historical battles and locations in the pictures and promo material from the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie. But according to an interview with the executive producer Pat Crowley, this isn't really something we should expect to see a lot of in the actual movie, where 65% of the time is spent in present day and only 35% will take place in 15th Century Spain, as recreated via the mighty Animus.

The lead actor Michael Fassbender explains this somewhat surprising split by saying: "There are certain things that we absolutely want to respect in the game. But we also want to bring new elements to the game [...] This isn't a video game that we're making. We're trying to make a cinematic experience, so there are new things that we have to introduce."

Sounds like the movie is going in the opposite direction of recent games...
