Developer Big Bad Wolf's The Council is an episodic narrative adventure coming our way this year, and when we recently caught up with game director Sylvain Sechi in Paris we asked about choice and consequence in the game, since here it seems as if you have to live with the consequences of your actions.

"That's the concept of choice," he explained. "We want to have consequence when you have choice, and that's the reason we spent four years working on the game, making sure we were able to deliver on consequences behind choices and not on the illusion of choice, and even though games with illusion of choice are great for the first experience, you tend to realise what's behind it and it tends not to be so appealing."

"So we spent a lot of time on real consequences and also on the really branching narrative, so there is lots of different ways to play the episodes, and each choice, most of the choices, have consequences between episodes, as well as the progression of your character."

REVIEW. Written by Bengt Lemne

"The real beauty of The Council is how it allows the story to continue even as you fail to solve a puzzle or save the life of a certain someone."

REVIEW. Written by Bengt Lemne

"Mixing in historical characters like George Washington and Napoleon Bonaparte, The Council has a neat blend of horror, the occult, and more practical detective work."
