After many years of silence it seems fans of Wonderboy and the Monster World series are about to get their fill. A new game is in development at Game Atelier called Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. There is also a remake in the works of the original sidescrolling arcade game simply known as Wonder Boy called Wonder Boy Returns heading to Steam. And finally there's a remake in the works at Lizardcube of Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, one of the more influential action-RPGs of its time (1989).

In this dev diary, the development lead Omar Cornut, art director Ben Fiquet travel to Kyoto for Bit Summit where they also meet up with Ryuichi Nishizawa, the creator of the original game. In fact, Nishizawa-san says there wasn't any game design document or such for the game, as he was doing both design and coding and didn't really need to communicate his vision to anyone else.
