Pete Hines is someone we've spoken to a lot in the past about all things Bethesda, and at QuakeCon this month we sat down to have a chat about a number of things, including The Elder Scrolls: Blades, which he tells us has a lot of different ways to play, allowing for the player to choose.

"We want it to be a full-featured Elder Scrolls games with console-quality graphics that you can play on your phone for free," he told us. "It's got a couple of different modes. Where we are in development is continuing to flesh out and create all of that content that makes for a deep, rich Elder Scrolls experience."

"The sort of base game as we think about it is the Town Mode where you are a member of the Blades and you return to your home village to find it's been destroyed, and you have to start rebuilding it. So you're going on quests, talking to NPCs, and starting to rebuild the town, and in rebuilding the town you get to make choices about what you're going to build and how you want it to look. And you can visit other player's towns if you want to see what your friends are doing, but you're going on quests and leveling up and getting more powerful gear."

"And then there's also an Abyss Mode, so if you want to try 'okay, how far can my character get through this kind of endless dungeon, endless runner thing' then you can do that as well. We're also planning a PvP version where you can go into the arena with your character and battle against other players."

"But at the end of the day it's about 'well, how do you want to play? What do you want to do?' and then making sure we've got enough content there to satisfy folks in whichever of those ways they want to play."

Is Elder Scrolls: Blades on your radar? If so, then maybe our hands-on impressions are worth a read, as well as our gameplay below.
