After being announced last year, the new League of Legends European Championship (LEC) had its first week of competition this past weekend. Before the debut many had their eyes on Fnatic to impress early on, as they had been Worlds finalists months before after all, but that wasn't the case here.

On Friday SK Gaming dealt Fnatic their first loss of the split, and their second was close to follow, as they lost again to Origen, the team owned by Rfrsh Entertainment. Origen had lost to G2 Esports previously, and G2 in fact had a great start to life with new signing Rasmus 'Caps' Winther, getting another win against Schalke 04 to give them a 2-0 record. Another team with a 2-0 record was Misfits, who won against both Rogue and SK Gaming, meaning they sit at the top of the table alongside G2 right now.

As reported by Dot Esports though, this first week of competition had a lot of technical issues, especially with the virtual crowd. Bugs and glitches dulled the excitement a little, but with more games this weekend we don't have to wait long for more action.

Can Fnatic turn things around?
