After several teasers and smaller announcements, Obsidian Entertainment has this week revealed their big surprise by introducing the final add-on for Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. The Forgotten Sanctum sees work on the RPG will come to an end on December 13, freeing the developer up for any new tasks for the new chiefs at Microsoft.

In any case, the expansion provides an "immense" dungeon that has been built into the "flesh of a sleeping god" - the press release states. Although the story is still vague at this point, suggesting a catastrophe we may be able to prevent if we work together with the Archmages. The Forgotten Sanctum costs €9.99 and is part of the Season Pass.

In addition to the DLC, Update 4.0 will be introduced in three weeks, about which Obsidian will go into more detail on their official homepage. The content patch will introduce another subclass to every existing class and endgame content. And though it seems like a small thing to do, the developers have finally come up with a solution to let ships respawn.

With The Forgotten Sanctum and 4.0 Obsidian is slowly calling time on Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, which is why the devs are launching difficult divine challenges and two new mega-bosses - the Wizard Savant and the infernal construct. For more information, visit the official website.
