Normally in mecha games, it's the player who gets strapped into a hulking great mechanical suit and who is tasked with beating down other metallic adversaries in epic battles. Left Alive, an upcoming survival action-shooter from Square Enix, is looking to do things a little differently.

The game is set in the fictional country of Novo Slava in the year 2127. The player will experience the story from the perspective of three different characters with "multiple story paths each requiring bold decisions with desperate consequences." In Left Alive we'll also be trying to take out heavily armoured enemies with a mix of firepower and stealthy traps.

The game is set to land on PC and PS4 later this year. Check out the new Tokyo Game Show 2018 trailer below for a closer look at what's cooking, in particular, it highlights the invasion of Novo Slava.

Left Alive

REVIEW. Written by Roy Woodhouse

"This could have been special, but frustrating difficulty spikes, unintuitive level design, and inconsistent AI meant that we couldn't really connect to the story."
