During last week's Nintendo Direct, the company made a major announcement: the popular and dark N64 title, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, will land on 3DS in spring 2015 as The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3DS. Talking about this project, Zelda series producer, Eiji Aonuma, explained that the new Majora's Mask is not only a "remake", but it is a more ambitious game, as Nintendo has been working on it since back in June 2011, after finishing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

"So although we've been working on the game for quite some time, we didn't want to say it was being developed until we were at a point where we could proudly say that this is not going to be just another remake and that it's going to be worth your time," Aonuma said.

The game producer said that the development team has spent a lot of time making sure the gameplay experience is smoother than in the 2000 original, without taking away from its unique world, which is darker than other Zelda games. More info and details on Majora's Mask 3DS will be shared in the future, as Aonuma said, so stay tuned on Gamereactor.
