No more speculation: the new The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will be making an appearance on NX as expected, but the adventurous RPG will not make it to market this year. Nintendo has just made an official announcement stating the following:

"The new Legend of Zelda will be the focus of E3 2016. It will launch simultaneously on both Wii U and NX in 2017."

Thus, producer Eiji Aonuma and his team will not be able to keep their most recent promises, but will at least have the chance to show how the game is developing in a month and a half at E3 (Update: it will, in fact, be the ONLY game Nintendo shows at the upcoming expo). And given NX is launching in March 2017, the new Zelda could very well be its flagship launch title.

It was originally thought that Nintendo's next home console would be released before the end of this year, but this has now been clarified by the Kyoto-based company, with March its new targeted release window. More on that soon.
